Red-winged Blackbird taken at Meadowview Marsh in Kingsport, Tennessee with a Canon Optura 200mc camcorder and Nikon 3x TC-E3ED teleconverter. This teleconverter was made for use with digital cameras, however in combination with some camcorders will work with only slight vingnetting at full zoom.
Yes they are. The red sometimes does not show until they open their wings, and sometimes very obvious. Perhaps due to age of bird or season. Look up other RRBW videos on YT and see. The song is very RRBW, however. Several times a week we return to this area...and marvel at the birds, but really there are more of the same birds hopping around on the tables at the nearby Lakeside Cafe! ;-) There are more birds in our backyard even. Anyway, we like the grasses waving in the wind.

Hmmm... are you sure they're RWBB? I was running today (alongside Newton Creek in So. Jersey) and saw several... and noticed that the red was visible when they were just hopping about or stationary on the ground. (I took particular notice because I saw several in Hawaii last week and was not sure if the red was noticeable except when in flight... so I took special notice to confirm or discount this).

They are neat birds. We have a bunch in Philadelphia. That was a great shot of the male bird. His plumage was very noticeable.

Like here in Illinois, you can only see yellow when they are perched but... you can see a lot of red when in flight.

What location? Our redwings here in Bay Area, CA, do not show the red until they take off.
