A 7-year-old girl died when she was caught in her family's car as a flash flood swept away an SUV in Ashland on Aug. 7, 2008.
The girl's father, mother and young brother escaped from the SUV before the deluge carried it about 1,000 yards down Ames Brook. A swiftwater rescue team found the girl's mother holding onto a tree.
Lee Schwartz, whose family owns the land next to the campground where the family was staying, showed New Hampshire Union Leader reporter Shawne Wickham some of the damage.
