I have a Torn Rotor Cuff & a Slap tear, and I was told by the surgeons office that I would have to live with my problem the rest of my life, however, I do not believe that. Could someone who has gone through this please tell me if surgery is the only way to fix it or not? Thanks

@crazyhiho yea man they gave me a sully braice 2 wear 2 keep my shoulder in socket however it would find its way 2 hanging limply at my side and i had 2 put it bck in socket but they told me aftr the surgery it is 95% tht it wont come out again

@dmbs2045 oh man, someone else who feels my pain, going through the season with coaches telling you to give it your all, and you do, and now a year after i finished im still paying for it.
it sucks, but i duno about you, there was no way im sitting out my senior year. if i could do it all again id tear my shoulder 10 more times... maybe a little later in the season though LOL
and yeah my surgery accoring the MRI was only gunna be like an hour and it ended up taking twice as long.

@crazyhiho Man i did the same thing 1st game of the season i dislocated my shoulde and tore the labrum. I finished out the season and it went from a small tear tht woulda taken 30 minutes 2 fix into a tear tht took 2 and a half hours to fix.

@xFastpitchChik13x i tore mine in the first few weeks of football and i still finished the season, it gradually got worse after because i kept weight training, so i can understand what you mean, its stressful being limited. i was limited for over a year.
just get it fixed, the doc tells you if its majorly messed or just a slight tear.

@crazyhiho Yeah... it does. I wouldn't care if it just hurt, but still trying to play sports with it and go to college on a scholarship to play is pretty stressful.

@xFastpitchChik13x its not like your gurantee'd pain for as long as this poor fellow, his tear looks pretty bad.

@wolftalica Freakin sucks. Mine just started giving me problems again!

@wolftalica haha it's cool man and yea my surgery took between 2 and 3 hours they had to tighten up the tendons in my shoulder up and remove some inflammation
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the surgeons office is telling u the truth, at least for me it's the truth. I had my surgery 3 yrs ago and I still feel pain on a daily basis and you might as well forget about lifting anything heavy or using your arm for a prolonged period of time. I used a hammer for 20 mins and suffered for 3 days afterwards. And i dont think there is another way to repair it, sorry.

tblach - I had a SLAP tear and what SLAP stands for is Superior Labrum Anterior and Posterior. So I am assuming posterior labral tear would kind of be included in "Slap" tear. Not sure though.

@xFastpitchChik13x That is EXACTLY what i had.

How did you tear your shoulder? I can't understand why my shoulder consantly falls out when I swing a baseball bat. Its killin me. Is there such a thing as a posterior labral tear?

@tblach04 I fell down at my job and tried to prevent myself from hitting the floor by extending my arm out backward and grabbing a shelf, instead i seperated and dislocated it. I never felt pain like that before and i'm not ashamed to say a few tears rolled down my cheek at that point and time. It was awful and the recovery took FOREVER.

Dude, what the hell is with all the bandages? I am recovering from this surgery now and had 3 bandages for the arthoscopes...two on one side and one on the other. Man, you got them all over by comparison.

@guitarpickeril They had to clean out alot of scar tissue from my previous shoulder injury which is why i have so many bandages.
