Simon Marcus is the founder of a charity in London, and the Conservative candidate in Barking. In this video he talks about campaign on the issues people care about. Not only is he fighting for change against Labour who have failed them - he's also fighting against BNP leader Nick Griffin.

Sorry Mr Marcus,but alot of working-class Eastenders,remember Thatcherism&the problems caused by the Tories,in the 1980s&upto 1997.The Tories haven't really got a chance in that borough,as the locals would either support Labour(mainly ethnic minorities&some whites that aren't as angry with Labour:-)or the BNP,whom many are turning to,for answers to these social problems.

I live in Barking, and there is most likely going to be racist attacks if the BNP win....the irony is, most of the real foreigners, i.e. actual immigrants, are white and from Europe (which I don't mind personally, I have many European friends, albeit student friends), but the racist attacks will be directed at British ethnic minorities, people who've lived here all their life, and couldn't possibly imagine living in any other place in the world...

obtuserie is bang on. The mainstream parties talk at people and don't listen. All they want is your vote and they don't give a toss. This particular Tory candidate is pathetic, almost as bad as my local Tory candidate, who ignored my letter to him no doubt because he had no answers to a challenging question.

Problems with the NHS, social housing, and school places? I do not see this guy offering any solutions because the Tories won't. He's busy worrying about windows - that's really the priority in bettering peoples' chances in life. You'll talk and you'll say "change" and that'll be the end of it, won't it?
