Ever wanted to rip a DVD to your computer? Editing inside of Final Cut Pro is awesome but, this can change very quickly if you don't bring in the right formats. In this video I show you how to convert a DVD into a usable file for Final Cut. The application is MPEG Streamclip and can be downloaded at www.Squared5.com Make sure you have the rights to the information that's on the DVD before you use these steps. Please email suggestions or issues you run into. More FCP tutorial videos will come as you suggest topics. FinalCutProHelp@me.com

An Awesome Guide to Final Cut Pro X is on iTunes and Kindle, download it now to get up and running fast.

  • Everything seemed to work fine, I fixed the bugs and all but when I'm exporting I loose sound every 3 second. Like if the dvd was jumping...have anybody had the same problem?

  • @nambouine Does it jump out of sync right away or does it slowly get worse over the 3 seconds? If it's jumping it may be a copy protection but if it slowly moves out of sync there may be an issue with frame rates. You may need to change the type of compression (the top drop down menu).

  • Mine came up with a "must purchase apple playback"

  • @southerncomfortphoto if it's asking for the MPEG 2 Playback component, just search the web for it and you can find it on Apples website. This is something you have to purchase if you do not have Final Cut Pro.

  • How do i download just a section instead of the whole movie? i'm running low on space

  • @DITRproductions Check out my other video on MPEG Streamclip tips. You can use the I and O keys on your keyboard to select a portion you would like. The video explains how to do this.
