Recorded almost 30 year ago. VHS tape isn't perfect, audio has been cleaned up. Played by Marilyn Mason.
Watch for Marilyn to "pull out the stops" to play the end of this Bach piece. At one concert, I watched as they setup a Bach piece setting various stop combinations for different parts of the piece. It's interesting to note when the organist pulls a lever under one of the manuals (keyboards) and watch the stops change position. When they start coming out, it is really impressive to hear how clean and loud a live performance can be on this kind of huge instrument.
For those learning to play piano, imagine playing an instrument with 5 keyboards, 4 manuals on top, and one for the foot pedals.
Marilyn makes it look so easy.
This was recorded from a recorded show years ago, at least 35 years ago when VCRs were still pretty new. The dropout happens when the tape is slightly offset to the playback heads. Since the original recorder is long gone, the player I used was tracking differently, so the playback wasn't perfect. But like old manuscripts or things dug up by researchers, this is an artifact recording of what took place almost 1/2 century ago.
