This is a series of gameplay vids I'm doing highlighting overlooked games for the PS2.

This game has to have the worst cover art ever, but it's actually a fun little shooter.

Though the original Mobil light force was released on the PS1, it was actually a port of the Gunbird series.

Mobile Light Force 2 may share a name with the original, but it's actually Shikigami no Shiro which is a completely different series.

This is for oldschool shmup fans, and probably won't appeal to the mainstream of gaming.

Mobile Light Force 2 is also available as Shikigami no Shiro on the Xbox (Japan only).

  • I hadn't realized it was available under it's original name for PC and Xbox. Does it have the plot or anything that was removed from the japanese version?

  • Actually, I think I may have gotten the info about the PC version wrong, maybe. Shikigami no Shiro II & III are available on the PC. Let me double check that one.

But there is an Xbox port of Shikigami no Shiro in Japan. As for the story, I don't know.

I'll take the info about the PC port off until I can confirm it.

  • isnt the cover art like something from charlies angels or something?

  • yeah, it's extremely lame looking, and makes absolutely no sense.

  • I'd rather have the import....

  • I hear the import version was better, because they trimmed stuff out of the US release, but, for me, the US release is the easier to come by.

  • This game will be forever remembered in history as having some of the worst box art localization in video game history. Seriously, what were they thinking? It's like wrapping up a wedding ring in feces.

  • @TheUselessGamer Xplay has only ever given one shmup a good rating: Ikaruga.

  • btw this is not the "poor mans" Ikaruga.

  • I just got this game in a bargain bin at gamestop for 2 bucks, probably the best 2 bucks I ever spent. Highly underrated indeed

  • This is my favourite shmup after Einhander. Never had the joy of playing the sequels.

  • picked it up today for 2 quid..well worth it.

  • nope not good some flash games are better 5

  • Amazing shmup gem, belongs in everyone's collection. Screw naysayers, I'll review this one myself.

  • Looks like a nice shmup, and it's dirt cheap, I'm getting it.

  • Now this is a game almost NOBODY has heard about...I remember letting it stand on the menu for a while and watching the demo play...it showed me you can get close to the fireballs while gaining points, powering up. Then it was all fun from there. adfja;dj ABSOLUTELY LOVE UNDERRATED GEMS.
