@74SU Roughly, yeah. Peerblock is a running process though and consumes memory while the HOSTS file is passive and does not consume memory.

or better than that !you can use adblock plus an extention for all the browsers

@yassinoss666 But with a Hosts file, not only is spyware/adware/malware/trojans blocked, but anything trying to access the internet has to go through the Hosts file. In short, it offers an overall protection to your computer.
