Americans use the word black to separate & segregate. Latino are 1 or should be 1 no matter what color.

I was born in Costa Rica, I am a white hispanic, came when I was a kid to the midwest, whatever it don't matter. Would like for Mr. Gates to do a program on Costa Rica, we only have Afro-descent in the province of Limon, not sure why. I'm glad Mr.Gates or someone finally did a program to educate a lot of the ignorant Americans about Latin America, it's important. Lastly I Love my beautiful Latin American Afro-sisters, so sexy, especially when they talk Spanish, such a beautiful thing :) .

0:55 is black??? WTF!!!
-
am i considered mixed because my grandmother is half native american?
-
question am i considered mixed because my grandfather is half native american and my grandmother is half native american????? no i am black. they look mixed but i look black . they are multiracial and i am not.
-
Most Doms are mixed, but some black dominicans lie and say they're "indio" or mixed. I've heard them even call David Ortiz not black, that's a total lie. Any honest person can see it.

@BlabberMouth4u I doubt they ever will

I have no problem with Dominicans who say that DR is tri-racial as a whole. It's that along with that people should acknowledge that their tri-racial population will still produce people who will appear more Black,White,Indigenous etc. Mexico has a large mestizo population but they still acknowledge people belonging to it's Indigenous groups. So people like your cousin should know that DR will still have "Black" looking people even though it's tri-racial as a whole.

people slhd be proud of their background..i am of mix race and i am proud of all them..i dont prefer one over the other.. in america if u r mix with black they considered u just black and that is wrong bec its denying the other parts of u

This is just scare tactics to scare black Americans into not traveling there...
I must say I feel like I received a Harvard education in the comfort of my living room. Professor Gates documentary was very interesting and educational. As interesting as it was, I'm a little sad to say that i wish more americans, especially black americans are more aware about blacks in latin america.

As an African American Spanish teacher I must say that the documentary is NEEDED! I would tell my Latino students and their parents 100 times I was African American yet, they would still treat me and speak to me in a way blocked out my Black heritage or they would say "the Latino is just in you". My African American students would practically write me off and state I was not Black -because I teach Spanish! My Caucasian students often questioned my skills and always my race. America needs PBS
