Rockpooling in Scarborough, UK. This crab technically isn't a crab, instead evolving all this time to look very similar to true crabs. This example was missing two legs unfortunately :(. They look a lot like they are made out of bran flakes to me! Very good at camouflaging under rocks. Who knows how many we have missed previous to this find!

They aren't missing. They're either tucked under their chest or they're in the process of growing back!

  • I have one in my fish tank...strangely enough also missing two legs on one side...the middle and top ones (just like yours).

  • You shouldn't worry too much that it lost some legs, apparently they use that as a defense mechanism and they'll grow back :)

  • i find hundreds of them in cormwall literally hundreds

    !!!!!!!!!
