John Henry, a ballad that is favoured by everybody! He made it, at last...

JOHN HENRY

John Henry was a little baby
He was sitting on his mama's knees
He pointed straight at a piece of steel
said that steel gonna be the death of me

John Henry had a little woman
By the name of Polly Ann
John Henry got sick lord, he's lying in bed
Polly Ann drove steel like a man

  • Where did you learn that version? I'm working on that song, and am looking for different arrangements.

    Great!

  • Thanks! some of the music comes from DeFord Bailey some of the words are from Josh White, but most of it is my own interpretation of many different versions of the song and the train imitation. Glad you like it!
