The World Is Waiting for the Sunrise" (Written in 1919 with words by Eugene Lockhart & music by Ernest Seitz)
Friends and musical colleagues Eddie Erickson and Bill Dendle have been delighting audiences for decades with their talent, charm and wit. Here, Bill dedicates a tune to Scotte Doggett while performing at the monthly STJS "Jazz Sunday" meeting. This is one day after the annual Trad. Jazz Youth Band Festival in Sacramento, CA.
The Trad Jazz Youth Band Festival (TJYBF) is an all-day festival dedicated to the performance and teaching of traditional jazz, with combo bands performing non-competitively. Every combo receives feedback and lead-sheet clinics following its performance. The festival also includes an optional Friday evening, pre-festival, hosted jam session, plus master classes, lecture/demo, an evening showcase concert, and admission to the next-day STJS "Jazz Sunday" concert. TJYBF is believed to be the only scholastic festival for Dixieland or traditional jazz, and is open to school bands, jazz club-sponsored bands, and independent youth bands. Anyone may purchase a festival pass to attend performances.
TJYBF is presented by the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society (STJS) and Sac. State University Jazz Studies, in cooperation with Traditional Jazz Educators Network (TJEN).
