There is a very old and disgusting technique that does work with botflies.

You put thick piece of smoked bacon over the area and the botfly eats its way out as it needs to breathe. Then, a couple of days later, you take the piece of bacon off and the botfly is in it. I've seen it being done with my own eyes so I confirm it works.

You should have put tape on it to block the breathing hole and then the botfly would basically crawl out halfway for you. That would have made it much easier.
