KUAT terminated its analog signal shortly after midnight April 1, 2009. The poor audio quality was due to interference from radio station KLTU 88.1 MHz. The signoff sequence begins at about 3:50 on the video and continues for about a minute before the signal is cut.

  • Although I typed comments about this video, they did not appear. The audio interference was from K-Love station KLTU 88.1 MHz, which was stepping all over KUAT's audio feed all evening..

  • Actually, I have a radio that goes down to 87.5

  • From what I can discern, an FM radio station must have been interfering with KUAT's audio feed in this clip (Ch. 6's audio frequency is about 87.75 MHz, just below the FM band).

In light of this, let me cast my vote for the DTV transition. Although digital signals may have their share of issues, they are not subject to this kind of "spillover" into adjacent frequencies.
