After a series of injuries that put me off the bike for a few months I finally went for a spin on rollers. Yes, my form is bad but I haven't ridden in a while so STFU.

Just a quick video on a few tips to make riding rollers easier.
1. Prop yourself beside a wall to use as support for mounting, dismounting and resting on
2. Don't use your hand to hold onto the wall, use your elbow. You need both hands to steer and it's awkward trying to keep the front wheel straight without both.
3. Stay relaxed. Easier said than done.
4. Lean up on the wall if you need to take a rest, don't try to grab onto things with your hands just use them to keep the wheel in place.
5. Look a few feet ahead rather than at your wheel. Don't worry, no one is going to steel your wheel.
6. Watch out as you dismount, if you're practicing in your garage or a place with tiles be extra careful as you have no grip on shoes with clipless pedals.

  • Thanks. Much better and shorter video that others. Lots more instructive. Very appreciated.

  • Speedy Gonzales! xD

  • BTW, hands down the best video compared to all others in terms of usefulness... Just a wall to the drivetrain side, and using elbows while keeping both hands on the bar. For me, hands on the hoods have the best result.

  • Cool tips! One thing I might add after my 1st ride: speed is king. The faster the wheels spin, the more stable it is.

  • Thanks man; I appreciate the tips.

Using your elbow for balance instead of your hand is a good tip. I find one of the hardest things is mentally getting over the fact you're inside, so you can move normally, and having your hand outstretched to something solid makes it harder.

  • Cool video!
