This track is from 1972 -- it charted moderately ( Top 40 ) and got into the charts in a number of countries, including Australia. It was released by Buddha to compete with 'Ring the Living Bell' after she had left them to form her own label, Neighbourhood Records in 1971.

Believe it or not, Melanie had THREE top-40 songs on Billboard's Hot 100 in the issue of February 26, 1972. Her only #1 hit, "Brand New Key", was #24 that week, "Ring The Living Bell" was #34 and "Nickel Song" was #36.
