  • Wow! I've been to a couple of Brendans workshops at Broadstairs folk week and he is amazing, some of his tunings are unbelievably good and I feel very humble in his presence......very modest man! ....i was doing my first Gig at the event in Broadstairs and my so called Band mates one that knows him told me he was coming,You can imagine my panic of fear and excitement, they told me at halftime it was a windup.....never forgive them...Great Great stuff Adam! thanks!

  • I'm not surprised to hear that he's modest. In my experience, some of the most talented musicians have very little attitude; they keep their egos out of the way so that they're able to channel music straight from whatever Source they're listening to.

  • Been since the beginning. What will you post instead of lessons. Are you spending your time with your MBH? All my thanks for your lessons. They have been absolutely the best! doc dc

  • I'm writing a book about the devil and the blues. Seriously. Lots of research to do, and so little tiiiiiiiiiiiiii............... :(

  • on of my favorite albums too. PT is a mad man to play that stuff with a valved harp. Brendan is not an OBer, he plays mostly chromatic on this album.

  • Good, Chris. Thanks for that needed clarification!

  • What a track to end all that great music on - Moanin', with Lee Morgan's amazing trumpet playing. If I could get a fraction of his intensity on a harmonica I'd be a happy happy man.

  • Adam - Have you ever seen Brendan do "sweet Bulgarity"? If not, check it out on you Tube (I already have Brendan's album, and am lucky enough to get the odd lesson from him)

  • Hey Adam, I bought this album based on your recommendation and absolutely love it! Brilliant call! Brendan's rendition of "What A Wonderful World" is unbelievably moving!

  • Thanks - I will.

  • it works best on the 3 draw, but can be used on other draw notes. u play a partial bend, release it, then a full bend, followed by an even slide to the next consecutive draw notes. It takes some practise to make it even. Check out Paul Butterfield

  • I have Micke Kinsella´s tutorial Book/CD Blues Harp for beginners - I would recommend it to anyone . good stuff!

  • Can anyone explain how you 'roll off' a note? I've come across several videos - Mississippi Mojo, for example - in which you're told to 'roll off' a note. Is it bending down from a note or just sliding down the harp? I've tried both, but it doesn't sound right to my ear. When I listen to the pros, I hear several distinct notes moving down the harp, not just a random slide down!

  • You should hear Brendan Power, Mick Kinsella and Rick Epping play together, some of the best harp I have ever herd. They did a tour of Ireland a few years back the called the tour "the triple Harp by-pass". I met them after a gig in Waterford they gave me a good harp playing tip "don't give up the day job just yet...........but honestly three great guys willing to talk harp well in to the wee small hours.
