@zrxdoug You don't think I tried that? When the bolt sticks on my M44, it doesn't move in any direction unless you whack it. I already cleaned all the cosmo out, it's sticky just because it's a Mosin.

@pcsrule "Piss off. Mosin bolts tend to stick, sometimes to the point where you need a rubber mallet to move them. If I didn't take it off my shoulder, I wouldn't be able to move the bolt, end of story."
NEVER beat on the bolt, son..if it sticks, just pull back on the cocking piece (aka "safety" ha ha) and it will free up. Permanent fix is to tear down & soak everything in mineral spirits about half an hour.
The cosmoline will dissolve & your sticky bolt problem will dissolve with it.

it's a badge of honor when you can cycle 5 rounds from a mosin-nagant without the aid of a 2x4...

Nice...yeah, Mosins are a real pain regarding that, but I find that I can work it better than an Enfield...mainly because I tend to pinch the shit out of my palm sometimes when I work it fast.

@pcsrule my enfield is my rifle for when the shit hits the fan in the country. i must admit its damned fast. those trained brits that used it could put out fire like an automatic of todays age. with accuracy. and naturally the 303 round inspires more confidence than the 223 or ak round. i have had the privilidge of shooting a M1911, but I am a revolver man and am looking to purchase one for my concealed carry after i go through training. im a pretty good shot. so i should be alright.
try a mauser or an enfield next. id like to see the even faster rates of fire. i admit, i thought the Mosin was bad ass, but i did have a problem beating the bolt up to draw it rearward. i could keep the rifle to my shoulder, but too darn difficult. the mauser is good quality and strong. the enfield is meant for speed.

@mark3smle I'd love to try both of those, care to donate? :) It'll be a while before I can budget money for a new gun, and then it'll probably be another pistol (RIA 1911) for concealed and open carry.

Have you done the whole bolt break down and cleaning inside and out, and cleaned the chamber with a 20 gauge brush? I have a few and all my bolts work nicely without any mods at all... (Im not saying Im not just lucky)

@vetitoe362 I did break down the bolt and clean everything, but maybe I missed something - I'll break it down and clean it again one day soon. Didn't brush out the chamber with a bristle brush - I'll try that too.
