Megrel language is far more different to Georgian language than Abkhazian, Abkhazian together with Georgian and Chechenyan creates relatively close group called Ibero-Caucasian language groups!

Megrel and Svan are distinct languages (related to Georgian), not dialects. Megrel, Svan and Georgian are not mutually intelligible.

Abkhaz is not genetically related to Megrel, Svan and Georgian.
