Worldpremiere at Aegon Challenge cup, the Hague (NL), Sunday, March 9, 2008

Wibi Soerjadi and Akiko Suzuki, glorious winner of the Aegon Challenge Cup 2008.
The piece is written especially for figure ice skating, Karen Venhuizen and the Aegon Challenge Cup especially.
Wibi was asked to compose it as the final special treat at the closing Gala.
Tragically however, Karen Venhuizen was very recently stricken by a severe muscular disorder, that not only wiped out her Olympic ambitions, but also seriously threatens and affects her everyday phisical abilities..
Her mind still works perfectly, but her body is failing on her..

Wibi's beautiful music, Akiko's beautiful dance and Karen's heartbreaking story move presenter, former skating champion herself once, Joan Haanappel and the public openly to tears..

By the way, the idea for the chair was Akiko's..
