The Longines Symphonette Orchestra (or "Recording society") once again appears on this channel, this time with a romantic ballad. This is the "mysterious" orchestra where nobody seems to know who was the conductor or even which musicians played in this (very good sounding) orchestra .... But our ears do not "lie" and what we hear is top quality music, arranged in a fascinating and always surprising way. The song "Go away little girl" was written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King in 1962 and became a big hit for Steve Lawrence in that same year. The success was repeated in 1971 when Donny Osmond appeared in the charts for weeks with his version.
But here now, from the album "Oye Come Va" are the "Longines symphonette" musicians with their interpretation of "Go away little girl". Enjoy !
what a nice version of this, the 101 strings have one also. very relaxing, i had a freind of mine, tommy donlon he was killed by a car on 24 july 1972, we were 14, when i hear this song, it makes me think of him, i miss him so much. when donnie osmand had this hit he was alive. i hope he knows i still miss him, 14 was to young to die, and thanks for playing this, if you get the 101 strings version of this you will like it also.
