I've made this video for my completion of requirements in History. Unexpectedly, i got interested with the life and works of our National Hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal. I hope you will like this.
It will be recalled that when jose Rizal left Hongkong for Manila in 1892, only his sister Lucia had gone with him. The rest of the sisters and the father and the mother remained in Hongkong. (Narciso and Paciano had never gone there).
On August 26, 1893, Trinidad and Jose's mother left Hongkong and proceeded to Dapitan, where they spent the next 18 months with Jose. He gave his mothers eyes the final treatment needed to restore her sight, so that she was able to see the rest of her life. She returned to Manila February 1895.
Rizal wrote another poem, in response to a request from his mother, who had all his life, stimulated his poetry. This poem is regarded by some of his admirers as the most profound and noble poem he ever composed. All critics agree that it is second only to "Mi Ultimo Adios". He sent this poem to his mother on October 22, 1895. Its original text is in Spanish.
This poem tells a story about someone who leaves the chaos of the modern world to be a lone and reflect on nature. Jose Rizal being the author they say the retreat is to repose, to be at ease, so they can silence the grief, or forget the stress of life. For awhile he is content with all around him, admiring nature, and then as he becomes lonely he remembers that God is always with him. He tells us briefly of his faith and Gods ability to always be there with him. Then as he sits he is over come with a sudden memory of all the things he saw as grief, he realize that they were what they were and it is his choice to see them as he once did. Second guessing his choice to stay and die in his own solitude he decides to return to the world from which he once chose to retreat.

hey..is this your project in history? well this one is a crap coz you are ruining rizal's original poem "mi ultimo adios". why should you say "My retreat" which in fact you translated the orig. to English. You are just ruining our history. can you not make your project into original? pls respect our history.

@ragan2nik Excuse me? LOL. Why? Is that the only poem that JP Rizal wrote? I think, you should be ashamed.. Oh well, maybe thats the only poem that you know about Rizal.
