A professed psychic who claims to be able to identify items used to commit crimes demonstrates this claim and fails.

From episode 1 of 'James Randi - Psychic Investigator' (1991)

Despite claims to the contrary, there are no known cases where information provided by a psychic has played a direct part in solving a crime (which is probably also why there are no official police psychics).

Despite apparently good intentions, psychics can actually hinder or harm a criminal investigation, tying up valuable time and resources of police investigators, spent in pursuing useless leads. This can potentially put lives at risk.

  • @AMWORTHY1 you spelled rare wrong... Mr. I DID 30 YEARS OF RESEARCH AND ONLY TALK IN CAPS LOCK!

  • Crowbar! cause blacks used it to rob cars

  • @iouakick I lost it laughing at that same part. LOST IT. I STILL CAN'T FIND IT.

  • Individually wrapped to avoid psychic contamination, thats some funny shit :)

  • Dann you & your rational logic James Randi, the police come to me for my total lack of logic & that is the best I can give ya ma darlin'.

  • James Randi is the fucking man

  • it disgusts me to think the police of this country would turn to such bullshit out of desperation to solve a case...

  • Some police stations actually do have psychics on the payroll. Can you imagine being innocent of murder and then being convicted when a detective goes to court, sits on the stand and proceeds to explain how a psychic can feel that you are the murderer, or that the person you supposedly killed is telling the psychic that you did it? Comprehend how terrifying that is for a moment. We are a stone throw away from psychic testimony being admissible in court.

Never stop, Mr. Randi... never stop.

  • @EllyMcCormack Indeed

  • @scienceisknolwedge If I went missing and instead of good, methodical police work they hired a psychic, I really would be doomed. So in my opinion, this is a crime of negligence towards the victims of serious crime.
