  • Anyone notice the instrumental similarities between this and Dare by Stan Bush?

  • @IoriYagami288 Similarities? Some parts of it are basically identical! And yet, not nearly as good.

  • @LukeDulong thats what i like to believe too but there was some debate over the actual release dates of the songs ... if only someone could get 100% confirmation from Vince DiCola =)

  • @cmorbutt Dare came out a year before, so Dare is.

  • ok ... so which is the original and which is the copy?

  • For Dare, Stan Bush was the final singer. The demo was sung by Gary Falcone. Vince DiCola was on keyboards and wrote or acquired the music, Richie Wise helped produced it, lyrics and guitars by Scott Shelly, and Doane Perry (or George Pirilli or Michael Fisher) on drums.

  • Stan Why!!!!!

  • @Fyerman77 Yeah, I think you're right. But I don't see how that's "very" mistaken, and again we're using two different sources. In the Rhino interview he did say he was pushed for time.

  • @IoriYagami288 It was plagiarized, actually.

There was a post regarding the issue on TFW2005 just the other day, but youtube won't let me link you..

  • @CirkimusPrime Actually you're very mistaken, Vince composed the score using the storyboards which were very rough at the time. You just have to listen to the Protoform sessions from botcon 97, he explains everything on that cd.

  • ...however, if this song is indeed from 87 (and I'm confident at the suggestion that it is) none of that matters. : P

There is a lot of better known cases of similarities between certain songs. Most of the time, it's easy to brush off as coincidence. This, however, is quite blatant.

  • @ramon88us Yes, but DiCola said in an interview for the Rhino DVD sets that he started on the soundtrack much closer to the 86 release, that he didn't have much time at all and, moreover, actually used the film itself as a reference. That's not very unusual.
