You "know" no such thing, to be frank. I stand by my comments. He could just as easily have been playing a stereotypical "gay" as a nerd, In My Opinion. It's just a matter of interpretation.

I remember the book. Marlowe told us readers that "If you could weigh 190 lbs and look like a fairy I was doing my best."
Of course, I was twelve, and I had to look up "fairy" in the dictionary to understand what he meant.

Well, for better or worse, he is pretending to be gay, not a nerd. Marlowe did the same in the novel.

Gotta love how he comes in later, in tough-guy private-eye mode, and asks her, "You remember me?" She says no--and Bogey puts on the glasses and adjusts the hat, and says in the nerd voice, "How 'bout now--HMMMMMMMMMMMM?"
