My bunny, Slippers, does not like being handled. I suspect the breeder handled him rough prior to us purchasing this rabbit. He was about 12 weeks old when we got hiim. NO matter how much we try to console him, comfort him - he does not like having his paws touched, or freaks out when we try to put a towel over him. Is there any better way to comfort him or calm him down before grooming him?
@Deafly Sorry, I am just now seeing this comment. I would say just keep on handling the rabbit. Even if it doesn't like what you are doing due to a fear response, it will eventually figure out that you are not hurting it. Always keep the rabbit contained if it is wild acting: Keep it in a towel, make sure you have all your tools ready, have a helper, have it up at an ergonomic height, make sure you are calm and relaxed, have it quiet in the backround.Good luck and don't give up!
deafly, do you handfeed ever? certainly not all the however if you have time..try handfeeding once a week at least, mine love fresh veggies, i eat them with em, and feed them at the same time...i agree with newly...the more you do it, he'll relax... we do trimming with two of us usually , it goes by faster , one holds and sings to them and the other examines and clips
