A Short Preferatory Narrative:
I heard James Blake's 'The Wilhelm Scream' very early this morning on CBC's night stream, reminding myself of a discussion I had with Cinema L'amour's Big D. Back in February we were hiding from the bitter St. Lawrence winds, listening to music as is our wont. Upon hearing James Blake we quickly agreed that he sounds like Arthur Russell not only in voice but also in song style. We proceeded to listen through World of Echo. 'Being It' is perhaps the "best" song of the album, but it's just a part of a larger whole; that is, the songs are quite similar, OK? I said it.
