4:05 there is mistake, 59 of them agreed but Oishi sent 13 back home to their families. 4:32 not 3 but 2 years. 5:21 46 were ordered to make sepukku, the younger who was not there at the moment, was spared. Later when he dies he is buried next to his comrades "the graves of the 47 Ronin". Books are far better than history channel :)

This is myth. The incident never happened, it is not even recorded in the original text. At Sengakuji there is a memorial stone from a doctor in Satsuma, for some reason this becayse his grave stone but its not. Unfortunately this stone was published by A B Mitford in his tales of old japan.

Terasake was not the youngest and when he died he was not buried at Sengaku with the other 46. I have been to his grave and its located in a different temple. The matching grave stone that bears his name in Sengaku was added in 1868. The youngest was Oishi's son age I think 16 or 17 at the time. he lead the attack on the Ura Mon at Kira's home, He is buried on one corner of the cemetery while his father Oishi (the leader) is buried on another corner.

there´s another episode to this: one day Oishi Kuranosuke, leader of the 47 Ronin, was staggering on the street heavily drunk, fell down & remained there unconscious. ppl passing by were laughing about him, and a (common) man from Satsuma hit & kicked him & spit on him, shouting that such behaviour is inappropriate for a Samurai.

later, when the man learned that the 47 Ronin had taken revenge, he went to their shrine, apologized to them & committed suicide.

he was buried next to the 47 Ronin.
