K-279 was a Delta-I wich was dispatched to recover K-219 nuclear codes and books and get them back to Murmanks , just 2 weeks later while returning home something collided with her making a really big smash just after the conning tower.. (with no victims fortunatelly) and just one week later USS Augusta returned to port with 3M$ damage on her bow.

@musiteufel Most of the movie is hideously inacurate. The movie tells that Valery Psnischy was the political officer when in reality he was the security officer,and he was allways on the captain's side. And when they got back to russia the movie says they were received like heroes, in reality the Captain and chief engineer were prosecuted and the crew dispersed . Also missing is how the Augusta tried allegedly to ram an evac raft wich was moving the security codes and books to rescue ships

@blackandgold51 Sorry, you're right. I'm at fault. The broken silo was the sovjet submarine K-219 and the collision was the K-279 probably with the USS Augusta but my opinion is the same: The movie sucks because not authentic!

Actually, the collision with the American Sub was true...while the missile silo wasn't.

the storry really sucks because it's NOT true. There was no collsion with an american submarine. the accident were caused by a defective sealing of a missile silo

I have this movie on tape, it was made in the '90s... its fucking awesome! They should make more submarine movies and games!
