A short slideshow in memory of The Old Victorian Beach Station Felixstowe. Many happy memories of the late 1950`s - 60`s arriving at this wonderful old Victorian station by steam locomotive with my grandma. Sadly the station has now been demolished by greedy developer`s. A preservation society lost the chance to save this wonderful old station, they could not raise the funds in time to save it. The station was very hastily demolished before anyone realised what was happening. The land to this day is still undeveloped and overgrown, I`m sure and understanding could have been reached.Shame on the local council. Demolished but certainly not forgotten.

  • Hello, its a hauntingly beautiful piece of music ,surprisingly composed for the horror film HANNIBAL starring Anthony Hopkins. It`s entitled VIDE CORE MEUM composed by Bruno Lazzaretti. If you go to Amazons MP3 download section you can download it for 65p. ...Enjoy.

  • One day, many years ago, 30,000 passed through this station - in one day.

It was owned by the our railway company (the bit not sold for a pittance). They posted notice of demolition on Thursday evening prior to East Bank Holiday through the letter box at the Town Hall, as they had to give three days notice. On Easter Monda they knocked it down.

  • @GASTEARS Thank you for that.

I visited Felixstowe for - I am ashamed to say - the first time in my life a couple of weeks ago, and during brief drives around revelling in the Victorian grandeur, it hinted clearly at a town with a considerable railway history. And seeing the line run so near the front I searched in vain for remains of a 'Beach' station. sadly I now find only avaliable in video and photgraphic form now. I was thorougly impressed by the town as a whole, and will return v. soon!

  • What is the lovely piece of music underpinning this?
