Here are some instructions on how to fold an origami cherry blossom napkin that makes a lovely addition to any spring table. Hanami (flower viewing) is the lovely Japanese tradition of picnicking under the beautiful cherry blossoms (or Sakura as they say in Japanese). 1. Lay your napkin flat and fold each corner into the centre.
2. Then, with the same side up, fold the corners into the centre again.
3. This time turning the napkin over, fold the corners into the centre once again.
4. Here's the fiddly bit! Holding the napkin together in the centre with thumb top and forefinger bottom, gently pull the four corners that have been folded into the centre underneath, outwards and turn them upwards to form a petal.
5. Then from the underneath again pull the next four corners from the centre outwards to form a smaller petal in between.
6. Add a few yellow sweets to the centre of each napkin to keep the blossom flower secure.
