NJHS Community Organizing part 2

"Community Organizing in Newark: From the Great Society to today's Great
Recession"

Becky Doggett has put together this panel discussion for Monday, April 20,
2009 at 6:00 pm. Gerald Loab, of the Local Initiatives Support
Corporation, will moderate the discussion. Our panelists will be Becky
Doggett, Founder, Tri-City People's Corp; Mike Farley, Unified Vailsburg
Services Organization; Joe Della Fave, Ironbound Community Corp; and Ray
Ocasio, La Casa de Don Pedro.

Community organizations have played a critical role in Newark neighborhoods
over the last several decades. Our panelists will discuss the historical
context that led to the founding of these organizations in Newark and
comment on the challenges posed by the current recession.
