SSG Kahalewai Memorial

Staff Sgt. Henry K. Kahalewai, 43, of Hilo, Hawaii, died Dec. 15 2006.
This is a memorial made by his comrades of the 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), out of Fort Lewis, Wash.

I received this Video from My Cousin who served in the 1-14th CAV in Iraq. I do not have anymore video, this was the only one I received. Last time I talked to my cousin he said he had a LOT of pictures to go through but hasn't found the time yet.

SSG Kahalewai was a very well liked person.

I know as of Jan 19th 2008 my Cousin was still wearing his In memory of wrist band that was made up in honor of Henry Kahalewai.

SSG K, I wish I could of thanked you for teaching me everything you know. You helped mold me into a great soldier and I will never forget you. You helped me and the others through our tough times in OIF 2. Your guidance still helps with advice that I give to my soldiers and family. You definately are The Man, The Myth, The Legend.

We served together in Desert Shield/Storm talking about what if this what if that and whatevers...You will be missed Hawaiian. Wow, I just discovered this by chance. I was in the Army in peace time, at Pohakuloa Training Area in the late 1980s. So, I lived in Hilo for about 1 1/2 years. I wish I had the honor of serving with Henry. I missed out. I am deeply touched by this video and all your comments. I wish there was something, anything we could all do for his family that would bring him back to them. Thank you Henry, from a deeply grateful American.
