It is Kato Unitrack... a superior product!

Model railroad pre-made tracks go from straight to curved. Real life tracks have a transition bulit in where they go from straight to a gradual curve. Otherwise they would probably derail. Hand built model tracks can have the transitions built in. While it may be a little distracting to see, it is still very interesting. Dr. Boyd has shown me the reality of his tracks and it is good!

if i am planning to do i unitrack layout what # of turnout should i get from what i understand i need a #6? right?

@MrSkywaka If you use the Kato track system, #4's are handy for most applications (the come with all the little 'pieces parts' for any purpose... I really recommend getting a KATO track template (included with most switches and on the internet) to assist you in panning... Irecommend the Kato Unitrack very firmly... it is rally the best
