One-year-old Lainey Mahnken is deaf, but she became the first patient at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children to receive a cochlear implant. Now, her doctors and family hope she will, for the first time, be able the sound of her mom's voice and her siblings playing. Part one of this story, will tell Lainey's story and offer insight into cochlear implants. In part two, you will learn more about the full continuum of care patients who are deaf or hard of hearing can expect from Arnold Palmer Hospital now that cochlear implants are being performed there.
