And ancient Chinese tales featured many people flying through the air -- but not quite this way. An American extreme sports enthusiast has become China's first "wingsuit stuntman."

Wingsuit flyer Jeb Corliss has succeeded with his second attempt of navigating through the hole of Tianmen Mountain during a formal challenge dive on Saturday afternoon.

Corliss failed on the first attempt, earlier on Saturday.

Other wingsuit flyers from different countries also joined American Jeb Corliss to dive off a peak in the famous Zhangjiajie mountain resort in central China's Hunan Province. However, Corliss was the only one of the group who tried to navigate through the Tianmen Cave. He made it on a tense second try that left fans exhilarated.

[Jeb Corliss, Wingsuit Flier]:
"It was spectacular. That was one of the greatest wingsuit flights in my entire life."

Corliss had previously jumped from the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Space Needle in Seattle, and the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia and has become the first wingsuit stuntman flying in China.
