I regret my first message, looking too harsh for MK. I was really upset hearing the commentators. The are fully biased. Both Maria and Michelle were amazing skaters. To say they should not compete together is a blasphemy. I am not Michelle's fan, but I was always impressed but Maria' programs, even though she sometimes had imperfect jumps. So, may be I am biased too...

@ancamg Michelle kwan is in a totally different league & Maria should not be allowed to compete against such excellence. It doesn't matter if you know skating or not, everyone can appreciate Kwan's skating. I really don't think I can say the same for Maria! sorry Michelle kwan is number one and Irina slutskaya is my second favorite skater of all time!

@egodiegoego She lands all of her jumps with a stiff leg and her grace is lacking. All of her moves look forced and unnatural! When you are competing against upper level skaters, one should at least be able to tell a story through his or her skating routine. When I watch Maria all I can see are jumps, arm movement (so-called grace), and spins. It really doesn't matter what piece of music she skates to because her programs are very robotic and pointless. sorry:-(

@musicstar617 look at her arms. ballet oriented and elegant. and he presence on the ice is amazing.

Her skating is horrible!! come on guys..lol

I am really sick. Each time I try to enjoy Maria's programs the commentators keep comparing her to Kwan, and they all feel like the americans are untouchable! Forget Kwan, in the end, she is Chinese!

I have always admired Maria's skating. I loved it when she won the 1999 World Championship in Copenhagen.

Yeah I thought she looked in better shape here before she got the new look!
She was told by one of her coaches that she would never be a champion, that she didn't have the talent.
When she won the world's, she was the oldest woman ever to do so, and what a sweet victory for her.
Bravo, Maria, i have been rooting for you forever!
Such wonderful memories of her.
Figure skating lacks anybody really memorable for me, right now.
(With the exception of the males, and the Japanese ladies field.)

I really don't understand why people need to be unpolite when they express an opinion....Specially about someting that is only a question of personal test .....
Above the tecnical ability like or dislike a skater is a personal matter.
(and I agree that most of the americans consider their champions untouchable in an unreasonable way)
