AMTK 194 leads a detouring #6 down the n/e connector train from the Sac to the Valley sub after being pulled backwards from Oakland, CA by a filthy UP 5812 on 03/17/07. Since this run all Amtrak #5 and 6 trains have been terminating or originating in Roseville to avoid this detour.
HAHA I was on that train when this happened. UP Train derailed forcing us on to the ACE line into sacramento. we got there 4hrs late.

The ACE line is the UP ex WP Altamont line between Stockton and Niles Jct (Bay Area). Nearly 100 miles miles to the south of this location. Read my comment above for the real explanation for this movement.

Whats with the UP Unit at the Rear?
BNSFDisneyZildjian 4 years ago
The UP unit lead the train from Oakland as the train was backwards out of there. Once they got to Binney Jct. they ran down the Valley sub to Roseville, took the east leg of the wye and backed into the Roseville Amtrak station. The GE would then cut off as the train was now headed in the right direction.

Why was it detouring?

This was was when the UP American River tresle was burned down in Sacramento, CA. This was also the last detour as the train would terminate and originate in Roseville, CA. for the next two weeks.
