After watching loads of people on YouTube building various guitars, I thought it was about time I joined in. The big question is, what do I build next??

  • When applying the dye to the body, did it go on the binding as well? If so, how did you remove it? I am thinking of doing a similar finish on a kit guitar.

  • @cdh0007 Hi, Yes the dye went over the binding as well. That way you make sure that you get it to cover the whole of the top. It's really the only way to do it right. Once it's dried, get a sharp craft blade (like a Stanley blade) and use that to scrape the binding. Not a fun job, but worthing it in the end. I used gaffa tape on the blade to both protect my fingers and to limit the size of the blade. Search for Sully's Guitar Garage on YouTube, he's got a great vid on bindings. Good luck!

  • well cool can you tell me were you got the pickups and for how much plaese thanks :)

  • @kylewilliams1000 Hi, thanks for watching. I got the pickups from a site called Guitar Parts Shop. They work out relatively cheap at about £140 for the set, and it was free shipping. They've also just got the slash signature set in as well. How's that for a bit of free advertising for them!? Have fun! ;-)

  • Did you paint on the binding??????

  • @LesPaul209 Hi, I didn't paint the binding, They're built into the body. Once all the lacquer is sprayed on, the bindings are scraped clean. Then it gets clear coated.

  • @OLLYYYYYYYYYYYY yeah i was just thinking a lot of bits sounded similar to sweet child of mine. Kind of like if someone wanted to write a song similar to it but not exactly, thats how it would sound.

  • Where did you get this kit? How would you recommend drilling the tailpiece and bridge holes so that they are perfectly level and everything?

  • How would you recommend drilling the bridge and tailpiece holes without making a mistake?
