Actually, it can definately kill you. The Covenant Carrier and the Human Frigates can all kill you. I did it on the map with the warthog charge at the beginning. Flew into them with a Banshee... It will kill you.

Yep. Unfortunately this is easy, so it will merely take a bit off your shield. Legendary? You're screwed. It makes for a fun game. 4 Spartans up there, see who can last the longest.
