I searched the net for a practical demo. None of the videos I found on the subject really captured and showed me how to properly pack a backpack. Some videos talk about packing without demonstrating, some demonstrate, yet still avoid showing us. One video has an expert stuffing his pack, but every time he puts something in his pack, we CUT TO: a close up of his face as he "concentrates" on his work. Another demonstrates by packing a bowling ball, followed by a banana, followed by a kerosene lamp!

All B.S. So, I decided to make my own.

Here, I hope, is finally the definitive, "how to pack a backpack," instructional/philosophy video. I'm not a wilderness expert or a survival instructor. I'm a screenwriter. But before I did that, I spent 23 years as a combat Soldier. I know what it takes to live, work, and travel comfortably outdoors (not that the military is "comfortable" by any means).

I welcome viewers' input in the comments. Everyone has a point of view, but remember, this is my point of view. It reflects what works for me. Your mileage may vary. Suffice to say, this ain't the end all beat all, nor is it trying to be. No haters please.

There is a companion video coming soon discussing the gear seen in this series. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

  • Not a bad video but talked bad on other videos and you talked way too much about useless personal stuff.

  • @jivecody My video description says, "how and why..." The why is covered in the beginning. Conversely, the video you liked, a "how and what" doesn't show you how until the second half of the second video. To each his own. I sought to demonstrate to the public where my experience/credibility comes from, and why my POU is what it is. Remember on YouTube you can skip ahead. Thanks for watching.

  • Those three who disliked this doesn't have a clue..

  • @TheHagestol Probably the guys who made those crappy videos I talked about. Thanks for tuning in!

  • lmao, your saying how shit other vids was as in no reall demastration, in this vid you took 10 mins giving your life story and your back probleoms, can not wach any more geting very boared zzzzzzzzzz, sorry man

  • @COURTCHLOE Thanks for your feedback. You could have just skipped ahead, though.

  • @TheSabotFighter Thanks, It's always good to see what others are packing around.

  • @enscribe With the Tarne 36, about 35 lbs with the axe. With the Z55, about 40lbs. With the Baltoro 70, between 45-50.
