@mkbadger I'm sure he says "I live a very modest life, I'm happy with it" Knowing Rolands biting remarks he has made in other songs, I'd say its in retort to someone else's comment they made to him that peed him off!!

Gem of an album!!! What a marvelous singer. I have at least 5 favorite tracks! I bought the CD last week from Amazon but this is becoming my #1 track!!!
Thanks YouTube and RO fans for sharing and allowing me to discover Tomcats Screaming Outside!

@mkbadger .When one gets rid of mental restrictions( wanting to controll one s life by planning everything...),one can be open toward transcendance( open towards something that surpasses us,god if you wish). To do that ,one has to let go of mental certitudes( and therefore become MODEST,getting rid if pride and ego).Bullets are therefore aimed at the brain( which is what seperates us from transcendance,or god if you wish...)Having fate in life s power...Getting rid of the atheist in us....

@phmag2001 A hit at religion and its propensity towards mental illness and fanaticism.
-
@Waspinator9063 "Theist slant" is actually atheist satire in Roland's case. The entire song is about a deranged Christian fundamentalist's worldview.
-
What exactly do YOU think "Bullets for Brains" means? Does it a metaphor for something or do you think Roland would consider putting bullets in someone's brain? It's art, much like the Bible...subject to interpretation.....Just wondered what you thought.....

roland es un genio
What is the spoken line "I live a very modest life, I'm happy with it" all about? :-o

Is the line "I live a very modest life," or is it "I live a very obvious lie"? I've never been certain.
As to the meaning of the line... there's a definite theist slant in the lyrics to this song. I don't know how it can apply to that line though. D:
