I am not Irish no. I would like to point out that I merely stated a fact: the IRA killed 2,000 civilians. Are you defending or even justifying this action? The act of Union of 1801 was signed in part on the belief that it would bring prosperity to Ireland. When Ireland left the union in 1922 and became a Republic in the 1940's, economic slump soon followed as seen in the 1980's and even today.

ny united Ireland I assume you mean as part of the United Kingdom? After the Anglo-Irish treaty of 1921 Ireland suffered a vast economic collapse in the 1980's. They who see Collins to be a 'hero' i would disagree. The IRA killed 2000 British citizens in total. Most of these were innocent and had nothing to do with Irish affairs.

@aidanjt completely correct. DeValera and co. had seen the sense that collins had, Ireland would be in a much better place atm. the irish civil war cost the country so much.

@bigsinger1981 He was shot by a bunch of ass clowns who rejected the decision of the Irish people to ratify the Anglo-Irish Treaty. Just as the Real and Continuity IRA dissidents reject the decision of the Irish people to ratify the Good Friday Agreement.
