The Haj was an Arabic polytheistic custom. The Kabah was thought by monotheistic Muhammad to have been built by Abraham. Like all the Arabs in his region he went on Haj and fasted Ramadan. It was during his fast that Gabriel appeared. There is little Christian about Haj.
