Rebecca finds herself being followed by the tortilla española, a popular Spanish dish of eggs and potatoes fried together in olive oil, a sort of cross between an omelet and a frittata that can be eaten warm or cold, day or night. Everywhere she looks, the tortilla is there: in food magazines, on tv shows, in cookbooks. Finally, Rebecca decides to give in to the surrounding temptation and make a tortilla for herself and Max.

  • This tortilla is completely wrong.

Tortilla is done with big potatatos, totally peeled.

The potatos do not have to be golden and crispy. Tortllla will taste really crusty and potatoes will be hard. Tortilla must be nice soft.

At the middle of the video, she crush the whole tortilla with the "spatula". When you turn around, you should not make gaps or wholes.

Try to follow other videos in Spanish. This video explanation is completely wrong.

  • I guess this is all about trial and error, but this arent spanish tortillas. it's WAY too thin. sorry

  • This tortilla espanola is wrong in so many ways!

  • Looks great. The only advice I give is to use a smaller pan. It will be easier to flip.

  • I wouldn't say it's "totally wrong" Your just using the wrong name for what your making! Your making something closer to what in Spain is refereed to as "tortilla francés" or the "French Style"... Usually this is just fried eggs with no potato. and is very thin and commonly eaten for breakfast or on bread with cheese as a sandwich. The magic is all in the pan, use a much smaller pan that isn't so large, you want to be in control of your eggs, big pan: big disaster!

  • @solnacien They just used what they had. Hardly matters what kind of papas you use.

  • ive been living in spain for the last 7 months, and ive had my share of various spanish tortillas, and i have actually made a few myself, from direction of spanish people who make this all the time. this is NOT how its done. the best way to learn is to watch some videos in spanish, by actual spanish people. wrong potatoes, wrong flip, too thin. should be around an inch thick, the best way to achieve that is by using a smaller sauce pan that allows it to cook thicker, a wide one spreads too thin

  • this is NOT NOT NOT a tortilla espanola.... you need to go to spain before putting your ignorance on display and making a fool of yourself

  • @bloodprincess800 Because their grammar is wrong, it doesn't make this tortilla anymore right...

Consider that most of the people that will accurately criticize this dish are Spanish or from spanish descent; ergo their grammar might not be perfect but the idea is easily understood.

I hate when people use the "grammar card" when they cant refute or contribute anything important to a discussion.

Conclusion: No, it is not how a tortilla is done but it still looks delicious, and I would eat it.

  • Correct. I agree.
