This is a video of me Test driving a 1992 Wayne Lifestar FE with DT 466 engine and Allison MT643 Automatic Transmission. The steering wheel shook bad when you reached 55mph due to a flat spot on the tire.

  • Nice sounding engine. Great shifts. Is it an Allison B-World Transmission ?

  • This transmission is a MT643. This bus is too old for an electronic transmission like the world series I think.

  • What Size Passenger The Bus Was & If I Would Have Test Drove I Would Have Had To See What The Top Speed Was.

  • 71 Passanger I believe.

  • Ian, I hope you put up a video of your Genesis Amtran at some point.

  • I did not buy the Amtran I bought a new instrument instead.

  • "Bus Driver" by SCS Software, and a German company is coming out with "Omnibus Simulator" sometime soon. Look at my favorites for a demo video of Omnibus, it looks so badass, I'm really excited about it.

  • I love the DT466, the DT360 was my favorite though. I don't like the MT-643 auto. It doesn't make that nice whinny noise that the AT-545 made. :)

  • How does the front look?

  • We still have tons of '87 Wayne Lifeguards in my area, and I love those. There was a time when we had a bunch of '95 Lifeguards (Wayne Wheeled Vehicles) that were in near perfect condition, but I'm pretty sure that those were sold to another bus company.

  • @AllAmericanFE - Ah I just heard the fella mention this was the Allison MT-643.

  • So did you end up buying this bus?

  • @AllAmericanFE - Yeah the Allison World series transmissions came out in mid 1992, but this one is not the World series with that transmission selector. I believe this one is the Allison AT or MT series transmission.

  • @michelinman8592 sure.. if that's what this bus had, its a DT466

  • Ah, got to love the sound of the 5.9 liter Cummins turbo diesel.

  • @ndaguanno No .. that's a woman; and boy does she drive that bus well!

  • @matthmatthmatth I'm pretty sure thats a guy, not a woman.
