Once Upon A Twice recited by Sage Lily, a Kindergartener

Sage really enjoyed Once Upon A Twice by Denise Doyen. It is an exciting tale of a young mouse, Jam, who learns a life lesson at a very young age. She loves the whimsical words and rhyme and commented to me about how she enjoys the illustrations as well. Barry Moser's art really captures the essence of Jam and his surroundings.
Even though Sage is only a 5 year old in Kindergarten, she truly appreciates the uncompromised vocabulary and author-invented words like "scritchscramble" and "jamagination!" Already a favorite book in our home, the story's hero, Jam~a "riskarascal in repose" is sure to delight your family as well.
Sage completely memorized Once Upon A Twice after only hearing it read to her several times. Don't be fooled by her looking away as she recites. She is not reading and in fact, this little girl doesn't even read yet. She had no cue cards or even the book nearby to glance at a picture. She is in love with words and rhythm and enjoys committing interesting tales to memory. Thank you for watching and encouraging comments are always welcomed!
