Late summer 2009 view of a martin colony after a rainfall. After 4 years of no occupants, I almost didnt put it up this past season. Glad I did - I went from no birds to a full house almost overnight!

  • Great PM house. Wish all the manufacturers would make them with the starling excluder holes. I have to figure out how to adapt mine now. Congrats on the great colony.

    Thanks for the comment!

This house was adapted from the standard round holes with plates and a little saw work. It was done before the colony was established, but I'm sure if you added one or two entrances per year it would be fine. On a side note, I lost this house (and my own) in a tornado last June. I can only guess how may birds perished as it hit during the night. My records indicated 50+ eggs. A new T-14 house is going up today

  • @ho3shifts Sorry to hear about the loss of your home. What did you use as the model to make your plates to get the correct dimensions? Good job on the retrofit.

  • Just loved you video and I am sorry to hear about the losses of the houses. I wanted to build a bird hotel as I call it and found you video. Thanks again for posting.
