WTVJ signed on in March, 1949 and is celebrating its 60th Anniversary in 2009. WTVJ as we know it almost disappeared, until Post-Newsweek and NBC terminated their agreement to purchase WTVJ. Though some say, WTVJ was never the same since it was sold by Wometco in 1985. In 1999, WTVJ produced a full 1 hour special commemorating its 50th Anniversary. At that time, it announced its new studios in Miramar and the American Airlines Arena. Look for vintage clips of Skipper Chuck, Bob Weaver, Ralph Rennick, and Manolo Reyes in this well produced promo.
