Dolphin Casa Deception - Sandy Bay, Roatan, Honduras

This is our experience at Dolphin Casa in Roatan, Honduras on Sandy Bay in 2011. If you are considering staying here, please view this first. You may hear about crime in Honduras, but the only rip-off artist we encountered was the proclaimed owner of this rental property, Mickey Blowitz, who is not a local but an American. As we discovered, even the loft floorplan didn't match the Dolphin Casa Youtube video that the owner had posted (which according to others who had stayed there, was altered to add more bedrooms). Upon our return from Roatan, I read the stories of others who had stayed there and who had almost exactly the same negative experience (the video tells it best). I learned we were not the only ones left at the airport... and when you arrive in a new country and have no idea where you're going (no addresses or street signs like most of us are used to), it is pretty worrisome when you are not greeted at the airport as promised. We only found the Dolphin Casa thanks to Google Earth, an iphone, and an adventurous cab driver. VRBO posted my negative review and notified the owner, allowing him a chance to respond - tellingly, the VRBO Dolphin Casa ad was deleted the next day. I see the property is being advertised again but the name Dolphin Casa is being left out... just mentions Sandy Bay and the infinity pool. When I contacted Roatan Vacation Properties about our experience at Dolphin Casa, their representative told me they were aware of the property, and the owner, and were no longer advertising his property. Check out TripAdvisor's forums on Dolphin Casa before you book your Roatan vacation, and read all of the comments. When 'supposed' happy travellers visiting this property contact me now (2 so far), all bitter at this video, I expect they are as fake as the reviews were on Mickey Blowitz's VRBO ad at the time. Why on earth would a vacationer be mad at me... if in fact the owner started delivering on some of his promises (full house air conditioning, morning breakfast, PICK UP AT THE AIRPORT!) then it's a result of pressure from previously upset and ripped off travellers that the owner shaped up. As far as I'm concerned, we were misled and avoided on our vacation and no attempt has ever been made by Mickey Blowitz to fix that. Hopefully others won't be ripped off like we were, and hopefully this video helps people make an informed vacationing decision.
